Our Strawberry Room is licensed for 15 toddlers. We understand that this is one of the most important stages in child's development as this is when they are first starting to learn how to share, communicate, form relationships and function in a group setting. Our teachers provide a safe, fun and stimulating environment for toddlers to learn, develop social skills and build their confidence. By using a wide variety of activities, games and educational toys, toddlers are constantly stimulated and encouraged to explore. Weather permitting, toddlers spend one hour in the morning and afternoon in the outside play areas where they can further develop their motor skills.
Our centre has two Preschool Rooms. Preschool 1 is licensed for 15 children and Preschool 2 is licensed for 24 children. At this stage, our teachers introduce more structure and social skills by using a wide variety of educational games and activities. Pre-schoolers continue to learn about letters, numbers, colours, shapes and patterns. They are encouraged to improve their verbal communication skills and begin potty training. Pre-schoolers spend one hour in the morning and afternoon in the outside play area when they can continue to develop their motor skills ad are introduced to sport and more structured games. Our main focus at this stage is to prepare the children for elementary school. We constantly evaluate each child's individual needs to ensure that every opportunity for improvement is provided. At Little Stars we believe that learning in a positive, fun stimulating environment is the key to success.
We know how challenging potty training can often be for some children. We believe that by having teachers and parents working together, this process can be fun and successful. Little Stars staff are committed to working with each child when the time is right and, to make potty training that much easier. Our bathroom was designed and built to include a child sized fixtures located directly beside the classroom for ease of access.
Meals
At Little Stars all food is prepared on the premises. This allows us the opportunity to provide a wider selection of food for children with specific tastes or dietary needs as well as variation in portion size. A hot nutritional lunch is provided every day. We also provide mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks.
Menus are developed from the Canadian Food Guide to ensure our children are getting all of the nutrients they need. They are made four weeks in advance and are posted in the hallway by the front entrance for parents to review.
Little Stars is a participant in Peel Public Health FOODCHECK PEEL program. Our most recent inspection resulted in a Green (Pass) rating which confirms that our food preparation facility and procedures meet all the standards of the Ontario Food Premises Regulations. The sign showing our inspection rating is displayed on the wall by the front entrance.
